    Spiritual Life

Overbrook’s Spiritual Formation Program allows the students to learn and deepen their Catholic faith and aims to help them fulfill the mission for which they were created. They are given the tools needed to form Christian habits and a Christian sense of life by developing a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. They know their faith, have strong truth convictions, try to be coherent with what they believe and know and they make Christ become the ultimate motive for their choices and actions. They are thus always prepared and ready to dedicate time and energy to transmit authentic Christian values, they strive to be authentic Christian women. The student’s intellectual and human growth moves closer to perfection through God’s grace and their spiritual efforts, where our goal is to help them develop an authentic spiritual life.

    Special Activities

Within the context of spiritual formation, daily mass plays a key role in allowing for the necessary space for the student to grow spiritually. The student is introduced into the liturgy by means of brief homilies, hymns and following the mass with missals. Thus, active participation is highly encouraged so that each student may come to understand and enjoy the riches of this sacrament.

The students participate in special activities that are offered to them during the year for their spiritual growth such as:
    • Spiritual Retreats
    • Prayer Workshops
    • Daily Mass (Optional for High School)
    • Activities to live out the different liturgical times
    • Spiritual Guidance
    • Preparation to the Sacrament of Confirmation
    • Theology of the Body Seminar
    • Visits to the elderly
    • Social Work
    • Holy Land Pilgrimage

    Counseling

Through frequent periodic counseling, the members of the spiritual formation team seek to encourage each student’s personal development in general as well as her spiritual growth. The student is entrusted to a consecrated in this task in order to achieve the goal intended more thoroughly and in a more personal and attentive manner. The student, however, is free to speak to any counselor or to choose one for this purpose.

    Confirmation

Confirmation is a Sacrament through which we receive the Holy Ghost to make us strong and perfect Christians and soldiers of Jesus Christ. In Baptism we are made Christians, but we are not very strong in our faith till the Holy Ghost comes in Confirmation. We offer our students the opportunity to receive Confirmation and some are baptized or receive their first Holy Communion.
